“When the dog bites-
when the bee stings-
when I’m feeling sad-
I simply remember my favorite things- and then I don’t feel so bad.”
-Favorite Things, Julie Andrews, The Sound of Music
I’ve felt some bites, stings, and sadness lately; so, here a few of my favorite things.
I like sewing, crocheting, writing, reading, quiet, quilting, scrapbooking, making cards, collecting buttons, homemade bread, homemade soups, scented candles, cheesecake, Autumn, paper, office supplies and gadgets, neat pens, old recipes, mason jars, writing my blog, creating things out of “nothing”, making do, pansies, burgundy, tan, and navy walls, mountain dulcimer hymn music, listening to birds sing, fresh breezes, reading aloud, primitive decor, handmade gifts, listening to my children praise God spontaneously, Philipians, new socks, hearts and flowers, collecting quotes, baskets, homemade cocoa, praying to my God in Jesus’ name…hmmmm.
That last part changes everything, doesn’t it?
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about ANYthing, but in EVERYthing, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
I think that God just did a little preaching to me in my heart.
Just something to think about….
